Eine Woche lang werde ich nichts anderes machen als klettern, Sonne tanken, italienisches Eis essen, Bier trinken, zelten und nicht an die Arbeit denken. Arco... ich komme!

MAC: HowTo migrate your complete system to a larger HD

I love my MAC! The system runs without any intervention of an admin/user. Even moving my system with all the data to a larger HD (from 160GB to 320GB) was quite simple. No need to install Leopard, the usually configuring nightmare and so on. All you need is a USB 2.0 SATA case for your old HD. This is productive and saves time and money. Just follow these steps:

1. download and install the free backup program SuperDuper!
2. shutdown the system
3. install the new HD to your mac
4. install your old HD to your USB SATA case
5. plugin the USB HD
6. start your MAC and boot from your USB HD (hold the alt key during boot)
7. start the harddisk utility
8. format the new HD - set GUID partitioning under options
9. start SuperDuper! and copy all data from the external HD to the internal (use the function "Backup - all data") - may take a while depending on the amount of your data



10. after copying is finished shutdown your MAC
11. unplug your USB HD
12. start your MAC and...



...here you go!
Now you have all your programs, data and settings moved to your new HD and hopefully a lot of free space!

RSS-Feeds sind ein hervorragendes Medium, immer informiert zu sein. Das "Absurfen" von Webseiten eigener Lesezeichen kostet viel Zeit. Wenn man dann noch feststellt, dass sich auf diesen nichts geändert hat und man keine Neuigkeiten erfährt, ist diese Zeit zudem noch sinnlos vergeudet. Schnell erkennt man den Mehrwert von RSS-Feeds. Da Feeds immer lokal in einem Feedreader, wie z.B. Lotus Notes, gespeichert sind, stehen die Informationen immer nur einer Person zur Verfügung. Mit dem TIMETOACT Feed-Modul für Lotus Quickr kann man News-Feeds in einem Place darstellen und daraus direkt Inhalt erstellen. So können projektbezogene Neuigkeiten schnell weitergegeben werden.

Quickr-Performance: update your Domino server to 8.0.2 FP1!

I was wondering why our Quickr server was slow like a mule - slow performance, no real caching. Browser requested all JS libraries every time. Even getting a 304 took nearly the same time like downloading. Here's a screenshot from Firebug loading the Index of a Teamplace - yes, everything should be in cache:



After installing Domino 8.0.2FP1 Quickr runs faster and caching works perfectly. The following screenshot shows loading the same url like above:



46 : 4 requests - 8.37 : 2.47 seconds: Quickr on Domino 8.0.2FP1 wins. :o)
